12:42am: Just a tease and a taste.
Here is a quick and dirty video of part of our dress rehearsal we did this week for this Saturday's coming White Show at the Little Red Studio.

The video is SFW but some of the ads pop up as related videos on the side bar are NSFW.

Oh, and we kinda had to be bad with the music. The LRS band, Red Delicious, weren't available to help us out with the music on the video. (Key band members missing.) So that's why we went with Henry Connick, Jr. He does a nice job, but Heather, our singer is infinitely better for this piece. For that reason alone you should come to the show on Saturday. Hopefully, we will get that music track swapped out soon.

Anatomy 101 for BDSM

Why should you have a deeper understanding of human body beyond "the knee bone is connected to the leg bone"?

So you don't break your toys! Whether that is someone else, or your own body, this class will help you gain a basic understanding of human anatomy, and some physiological processes, in order in increase safety and enhance enjoyment of BDSM activities. Learn how to palpate various structures such as nerves, exploit the body's weaknesses to further a scene, strategies to distinguish good pain from bad pain, and increase play options. (Translation: Tops, I am going to teach you easy ways to be meaner. Bottoms, I am going to help you recognize potentially problematic circumstances so you can keep playing.) Bring a writing utensil and wear loose clothing.

Instructor: Sophia Sky is a switch who enjoys dynamic scenes that push the edges of conventional play. She has been licensed in the state of Washington as a massage therapist since 1994 and taught for 6 years at a Seattle based, nationally accredited school. Subjects included anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, massage theory, and basic through advanced techniques. After many years in the injury rehabilitation field, Sophia is currently the director of the Little Red Day Spa. In her off time, she performs at Seattle's Little Red Studio where she is always looking for new ways to combine her love of the aerial arts with her fetishes.

7:06pm: New LRS experince for the taking!
Little Red Studio
The White Show
May 31st @ 8:30 PM

"Even educated fleas. . .do it."

Welcome to Donn's Hampton Estate for a weekend party that will include dancing, singing, lawn sports, tea, a seance, poetry and more. Over the course of 2 days and 2 nights, lives will be forever and miraculously changed.

The wearing of white between Memorial Day and Labor Day brings up many memories of decades past and societal mores. Summer beach vacations, sprinkled with lavish parties and secret rendezvous, entice us to remember our own days and nights of coming out and to peel off the layers of winter to see what's peeking at us underneath...

In bygone eras of our history and of our lives, we remember that moment when innocence was lost, while so much more was yet to be discovered.

White or light colored clothing is encouraged.

A no-host wine bar will be supplied by Serafina Restaurant.

Please arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 at our offices and gallery at 406 Dexter Ave. N. and we will escort you over to the main space as we prepare to begin the evening.

Where: 750 Harrison Street

How Much: $30

4:13pm: Woot for Bondage Aerials!
Just got confirmation that Jim and I are in this coming Saturday's LRS Gold Show.

We are doing the "dirty" version of the Bondage Aerials piece, Flight to Freedom. This one is rougher and darker than the version we did for the Black Shows. We also have livened up the choreography. I have started practicing "left-handed" and discovered a whole bunch of new tricks.

Come out and see us perform and then hang out with us for the rest of the show!

12:05pm: Sunday Art Show: Hengst works on paper
Hengst abstract
Today! May 11th from 1-6PM
406 Dexter Avenue N, Seattle, WA 98109

To be so Fortunate:

Most of us wish that we had something we could do in those funny little moments throughout our day. These are the times between this or that when you have the time but not the energy for anything particular. And yet there is that yearning. To be productive! To be creative! For some, it's noodling around on the piano, for others it's, well, cleaning the bathroom.

Many visual artists develop a way of sketching that satisfies this itch. And if they are lucky, this practice becomes a tender intimate relationship with their muse. It's a way of communing with the roots of their artistic source without the burden of producing a "Serious work of art" or fulfilling the terms of a commission or even just lifting the materials and tools that are often more complex and costly. (You may be familiar with Dale Chihuly's ketchup bottle squirts on paper.) And if you are really lucky, this intimacy will become a source of inspiration for new directions and individual pieces in one's main artistic production. And if you are luckier still, these humble explorations may be worth looking at in their own right.

Jeff feels that lucky. For a long time he allowed every guest at LRS to pick one of his works of this nature off the wall or out of a tray as a way of saying thank you for coming and passing along the good fortune. Well, that was back when there were 20 guests on a good night. Now, with 80 or so guests coming almost every week, it just isn't possible.

So, we are having a sale and we are selling them at as reasonable a price as we can. But what are these works? What do they look like?

Jeff will be showing two types of this work in a special show this Sunday from 1-6PM. They will all be small works on paper. They are a cross between landscape and abstraction and they are made with the tools and materials of printers. In fact, they look a lot like prints but they are all one of a kind. Jeff considers these to be the most sophisticated and subtle of his creations. He will also be showing works that are 4"x6" photographs that have been painted over in a similar fashion. Many of the photographs are of LRS troupe members modeling or performing.

All works will be $20 or $40. These are great keep-sakes of LRS and make great gifts.

Saturday, April 26th @ 9PM

Of course, Kerry and Clayton better work out their issues before it starts!

On Saturday evening, Zan and Jim and I are planning on collaborating on a suspension body painting photo shoot. Feel free to come and watch! I imagine we won't get started until late.

9:05pm: A cool thing to do on a Wednesday evening.
From my troupe-mate, Adele. The show that is being concocted will be put on by LRS during Memorial weekend.
~~~~~~~
I'm in a production called "A Room of Our Own" (that's our "working title for now; www.roomproject.org). It's an exciting, awesome project that entails 13 women examining sex, gender, and sexuality - slash - what happens when you put 13 women in a room together. :)
And we're having a FUNDRAISER tomorrow (Wednesday) night! It's (as they say in Boston) "wicked cheap" - just $10 - for an evening full of juicy entertainment.
I'd love it if you or anyone you think might be interested (feel free to forward this on!) could come!
Here are the details:
6:03pm: Pretty Penii
I just spent part of my afternoon ferrying art works of penises, nude torsos and a variety of abstract paintings between studios for Jeff's sale.
Damn but that man paints the most gorgeous penises!
I bought myself a painting, too. I didn't meant to, but it was a piece that I hvae admired and enjoyed since joining the troupe 4 years ago. It would be a loogie in the gods' eyes to turn down owning it for a hundred bucks.
3:54pm: Hengst Studio is having a "Garage Sale"
This weekend, Jeff Hengst is having a "garage sale" of paintings sculptures at the gallery on 406 Dexter Ave. N. (Around the corner from LRS. It is actually in the same building, just a different street address.)
This sale will be both tonight, Friday, and Saturday evening 8-9pm, and Sunday the 13th between 1pm and 7pm. Please call Jeff at (206)963-0633 if you would like to arrange another time during this weekend to come to the Gallery. (There is also the possibility that he will extend this sale out longer. And he definitely will if you call and make arrangements with him.)
From Jeff's press release:
All kinds of paintings and sculptures from all phases of my career. All sizes and shapes. Everything for $100 or less.
I have a number of paintings that are very fine, but don't fit into the main body of my work. And I can not price them the same way my other work can. There are beautiful pieces.
The sale will go on Friday night when our box office is open and Saturday night too. The again on Sunday from 1PM to 7PM. That is this weekend starting today. Cash, checks and credit cards are all accepted. All money raised from the sale will go to the Little Red Studio.
I have been helping to load paintings to go to the Gallery space and I am going to have a hard time not buying lots of art. The things he is going to be selling for as low as $20 is ridiculous!
This will be our final presentation of the Black Show. This show, written by "Coyote" Eric and directed by Jeff Hengst is dark in mode like a tragic opera. Throughout the evening the cast, divided between "the gods" and "the humans", struggle to achieve an erotic connection between them that will re-ignite the spark of life, divinity and compassion within.
Our no-host wine bar will be provided by Serafina.
We encourage you to come in costume, sexy attire or some kind of creative dress. Of course black or other attire in keeping with the theme would be fun.
this is a fantastic art show that Jim Duvall and Tom Jensen are in up in Stanwood. I highly suggest making the trek north if you have time this weekend, as tomorrow, Sunday, is the last day of the show. I was very impressed with much of the art. And Tom Jensen's paintings are as incredible as Jeff Hengst's, but in a vastly different way.
6:00pm: I'm alive.
I think.
I am amazingly tired despite having 2 days off IN A ROW this week. I spent one of them in bed reading, shenanigans and lounging. Part of the tiredness is directly proportionate to working a spa session today with 6 women celebrating a birthday and only having one other person to help me. I think I will definitely reorder how I handle those types of sessions in the future.
Also, doing some emotional work around my sexuality has me off kilter. (Surprise, surprise!) I am reading Jack Morin's The Erotic Mind and it encourages the reader, and is written so that you almost have to indulge in the exercises. I left it up in Bellingham and I am vacillating between relief and irritation that I can't read it until the next time I go back up there. I'm not going to recommend it, yet, but I have a feeling I will when it's all said and done.
Tomorrow I get to help with a photo shoot with Jim. Even though I don't do it very often, I love photo assisting as the chance to watch art being made is incredible. This is something he is very excited about and is going to be a very powerful and disturbing piece. It's part of a bigger project that if you have been hanging around him, you have heard him talking about pregnancy and societal attitudes and boundaries surrounding pregnant women. He touches on some concepts that mirror my experience during pregnancy. If you know anyone pregnant who is at least kink-friendly, give them mine or Jim's email. Not all of the concepts incorporate bondage.
